“The Reign of Law - A Tale of the Kentucky Hemp Fields” first published in 1900 is a novel by James Lane Allen. The Novel demonstrates the necessity of hemp as a raw material for the production of clothes and other textiles. It focuses on the growth and the harvest of hemp, and on a young man who earns his money by working on the hemp fields to pay for his training at the bible college. It was one of the first American novels that openly dealt with Darwinism and religious doubts.
