One image in the frieze of the NikeApteros shows the Greek goddess Nike, tying one of her sandals. The marble frieze, which is in high relief, runs around the temple.
The relief of Nike is currently exhibited in the Acropolis Museum in Athens.
Nike is the goddess of victory, therefore sometimes called “Victory” and the Romans knew her as Victoria. Nike was usually represented as a small figure carried in the hand by either Athena or Zeus. On her own she is normally represented with wings.
