Florence is the capital city of the Tuscany region and of the Firenze province in Italy. It has approximately 376.800 inhabitants. Florence and Rome are the two cities in Italy with the most treasures of art and examples of architecture (Duden 448).
The main industry of Florence is tourism, also due to the fact that Florence has a lot of history. It was an important banking center during the medieval era, and one of the most important cultural cities during the Italian Renaissance. Intellectuals and artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Donatello worked in Florence. With great thanks to these people, there are now many works of art and monuments to see in Florence.
