A chrysoprase is an apple green variety of chalcedony which is a silicia mineral. The chrysoprase contains nickel, which gives it the green color, and its physical properties are those of quartz. It is often used as a gemstone.
Silesia, a region of Central Europe, and California, has remarkable deposits of chrysoprase.
