Sixth Avenue

Sixth Avenue was build as an impasse “branching off from Bukit Timah Road” ¹ within the Bukit Timah district, in the 1930s. Its name refers to a region in Singapore with the name Bukit Timah, which in turn relates to the name of a certain Temak tree. ²

The area of the Sixth Avenue is highly flood-prone, therefore a diversion canal was build in 1972. ³
