Grand Central Station

The history of the station begins in 1871 with the "Grand Central Depot", in which the trains of three different railway companies merge: the "New York Central and Hudson River Railroad", the "Harlem River Railroad" and the "New Haven Railroad" ". 1

In 1903, the very large renovations began, stretching over ten years and during which the old station building was gradually replaced by a new one. 2

February 2, 1913, the new Grand Central Terminal had its official opening. “The beautiful Beaux-Arts building with its massive marble staircase, 75-foot windows, and the star-studded ceiling was an immediate hit.” 3
