Detroit

Detroit is situated in the southeast of Michigan at the Detroit River and is the tenth-largest city in the USA. In the 1700s, the city was a fur-trading town and by 1800s it had emerged as a major shipping and manufacturing center, due to its geographical location. Detroit was the main supplier in the course of World War 1 and 2. 1

Today, Detroit is a major manufacturing city, “leader in steel, fabricated-metal, chemicals, paper products, food and beverages” 2 and the home of the automobile, such as General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.

The city is also known for its contribution to the music industry.
