Mentioned only in passing, the Genoese Priest is noted to be the painter of Duke Ercole II's likeness.[1]
Bernardo Strozzi (1581 - 1644) who was known as "Il Prete Genovese" (the Genoese Priest) in Venice[2], is an Italian baroque painter and engraver. He worked in Genoa for many years before moving to Venice. His most well-known works include Vanitas/ The old Coquette ca. 1637, Rebecca and Eliezer at the Well ca. 1630, and The Healing of Tobit ca. 1640 - 1644.
