Locksmith

The Locksmith is only mentioned once in the whole story. When Lady Jane and Edward Stramer notice that the muniment room is locked and that Mrs. Clemm has lost the key, Lady Jane Lynke goes to the town and tries to hire a locksmith to open the door. Unluckily the only one she manages to grab is an apprentice that she talks into helping her. Believing Mrs. Clemm’s words, he forgot his tools and was not able to open the door. So he is given a lift by the butcher’s boy back to town (p. 609) [1].
