Jacob

Jacob is the underling of the head-gardener that had died some time ago. Even so he is described as old and half blind, he has been at Bells for years and knows a lot about the place and the people living there. Even so he is only mentioned once in the whole story, he has a major role in the development of the story as he helps out Edward Stramer by telling him everything he knows about all the rooms visible from the outside and who lives inside. Those information lead Stramer to a new conclusion about Mr. Jones [1].
