People Paul Dorrance used (Diagnosis)

During a moment of guilt, Dorrance feels sorry that he made money by using the helpless people surrounding him. He took the chance to built up a successful life by using them as his means to an end. But, he has always been fair, he only did never pity them.[i]

Nurse:

Paul Dorrance had a nurse when he was a child; as he phrases it she ‘slaved’ for him. Years later he found her poor and dying. However, Paul does not feel guilty for anything regarding her, due to the fact that he had did what he could when he was young. [ii]

Family father:

“(…) [A] thin young man (…) with an irritating cough (…)”[iii] needed Paul Dorrance’s professional help. If he had helped him earlier, the man would have had more time to care for his family.

The bookkeeper:

Paul Dorrance inherited his father’s bookkeeper. He was deaf and half blind. [iv]
