Margaret Wynn belongs to the older generation of the New York high society. She
follows the moral code, in which divorce is an inexcusable social aberration.
She once used to be one of Mrs. Lidcote´s closest friends but stopped all contact
when Mrs. Lidcote got divorced. That she has not changed her attitude can be seen
by the fact that she calls her daughter Charlotte home from Leila Barkley´s dinner
party under specious reasons in order to prohibit any contact between Charlotte and
Mrs. Lidcote.
