Charlotte Wynn is Margaret Wynn´s daughter and therefore also belongs to the
wealthy high society of New York. Although Charlotte belongs to the young
generation of New Yorkers, Mrs. Lidcote can see traditional manners, such as
softness, in her behavior. Therefore, it can be assumed, that Charlotte underwent a
strict upbringing by her mother, following the traditional moral code and values of
New York´s high society in the 19th century. Nevertheless, Charlotte behaves friendly
and tolerant when she meets Mrs. Lidcote and is the only person at Leila´s dinner
party, who has a conversation with the ostracized mother of Leila. Charlotte has to
leave the Barkley mansion earlier than planned because her mother calls her home
under specious pretences, which in truth is because of her meeting Mrs. Lidcote
there.
