The son of Lizzie and Vincent is around two years old: “[…] on a certain spring morning -- which wore the added luster of being the baby’s second birthday […]” (Lewis 197). He has curly hair and often likes to play with the delicate items in the house. On the day his mother and Andora take care of Vincent’s returned belongings from America, he plays with Lizzie’s Chelsea, which his mother tries to take from him, and gives him a “[…] beaded bag […]” (Lewis 198) to play with instead. Andora Macy who takes care of him compares him to “[…] [a] young Napoleon […]” (Lewis 198). He is the one to open the bag and that leads to the discovery of Lizzie’s letters to Vincent.
