Francois Clouet (Kerfol)

Francois Clouet (1515-1572) was a French, Renaissance painter and son of Jean Clouet, who was a painter himself and teacher of Francois. In 1540, Francois Clouet became the official painter of King Francis I. He was also the court painter for the kings that followed; King Henry II, Francis II, and Charles IX. His most famous works are the portraits "Elizabeth of Austria" and "The Apothecarist Pierre Quthe". Additionally, he set a trend for bath portraits with his painting "Lady in Her Bath". Maybe these pictures are the most famous ones, because they are the only ones that Clouet had signed.[1]
