Mrs. Mears is married to Harvey Mears and wears a “[…] feather boa about an outraged bosom.” (Lewis 191) She brags in front of Lizzie about Mr. Jackson Benn’s career and is a friend of him. She is the person to spot Vincent Deering, who she mistakes for a Frenchmen, looking at them from his table in the restaurant Laurent and causes Mr. Benn to invite him over to their table to introduce him to everyone.
