On the steamer form America to France Mr. Benn acquaints Vincent Deering and doesn’t know that Lizzie and Vincent know each other, so he introduces everyone to Deering. During a dialogue between Lizzie and Vincent, he appears in Lizzie’s mind and she draws the differences between those two men in her imagination.
