Homer

Whether there actually was a Greek poet named Homer or not has not been proven. It is assumed that he flourished in the 9^th or 8^th century BC and that he was the author of Iliad and the Odysseys. The Greeks themselves attached the name Homer to those two epic poems and consequently, it remains uncertain whether there really was a poet named Homer or not. However, it is certain that there was a great poet who wrote those literary masterpieces.
