Georgia is one of the States of America (since 1788) located in the Southeast. Its capital is Atlanta. The North of Georgia is mountainous, the central part is dominated by hills and the South is nearly flat. The mountain region is colder than the South. Humidity is quite high. Tornados in the North and hurricanes at the coasts hit this state very often. The population is about 10 million; 30% of it is black. Through its history Georgia voted mostly Democratic. Georgia’s economy bases on the making of paper and textile products, processed chickens, naval stores, lumber and production of transportation equipment. Georgia is known for the production of peaches (also known as the “Peach State”), peanuts, pecans, corn, rice, tobacco, wheat and sweet potatoes.
