Five-franc piece

A five-franc piece is a French coin introduced in 1795 as a new currency by the republican government after the French Revolution. The franc was divided up into 10 decimes each worth 10 centimes. The five-franc piece was showing Hercules surrounded by Liberty and Equality – showing the strength and union. So was the five-franc coin called “I’Hercule”.
