Rhododendrons are plants that belong to the heath family (Ericaceae) and are popular for their beautiful flowers. In the world are about 850 species (Azalea and Labrador tea, formerly thought of as extinct, are some of them) and can be found in the Himalayas and Southeast Asia. The meaning of rhododendron is "red tree" because of its red flowers and a tree-like appearance. The height of the different species of the rhododendron, range from 10 cm (4 inches) to 12 meters (39 feet).
