Dear Parents and Guardians of Westampton Township Public Schools,
Below is important information about joining the Westampton Parent-Teacher Organization (Westampton PTO) and the policies for volunteering in the school buildings or chaperoning field trips. Please pay particular attention to the October 15th deadline for all persons interested in volunteering.
About the PTO
The Westampton PTO works with our schools to help enrich the experiences of our students in many different ways throughout the school year. Behind the scenes, we help pay for assemblies, certain field trip costs, field days, celebrations, and sometimes school improvements. More hands-on, we provide classroom parties, elementary school hayrides, ice cream and hot chocolate socials, and more. We organize book fairs, help run field days, and even chaperone field trips. These events and experiences are only possible with the involvement of active PTO member volunteers and a great opportunity for you to participate in a little piece of your child’s school day.
We welcome you to join us for the 2025-2026 school year. Whether you are interested in serving as a classroom parent throughout the year, or simply able to help work a small shift at a book fair, we appreciate all of the time that you can give to help us do what we do. Please see the guidelines and policies for participating below.
Joining the PTO
The Westampton PTO application can be completed online as a Google Form, or with a printable version found here. Our annual dues are $10, payable via cash/check or Venmo, as explained in the application.
Volunteer and Chaperone Policies
The Westampton Township Public School District and the Westampton PTO require that all persons volunteering at PTO events in the school buildings be current, paid members. Furthermore, those who chaperone a school field trip must also complete a background check through the Westampton Township Police Department every three years.
Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, the deadline to join the Westampton PTO and be added to our approved member volunteer lists will be October 15, 2025. Anyone who has not completed a membership application and paid the annual $10 dues by this date will not be added to the volunteer lists established to start the year and may not be eligible to participate in all events at the schools. Those wishing to chaperone field trips, even those that take place in the springtime, must also return their background check forms by this date, as well.
Field Trip Chaperones
All field trip assignments are made by the schools’ main offices, not the Westampton PTO. While we assist with the background check process, it is important that school administrators and staff decide who will escort our children when they leave school grounds.
Please contact the school office directly to express your interest in chaperoning. If you are selected to chaperone a field trip, the office will ask you to review and sign off on the district’s field trip volunteer expectations and procedures.
The PTO Volunteer Chair has contacted all previous members whose background checks are due to be renewed for the 2025-2026 school year. If you would like to check your status, please contact us at wptovolunteer@gmail.com.
Classroom and Building Volunteers
As we head into October, we begin making assignments for room parents and assistant room parents based on the responses received in our member applications. These participants will then receive lists of all parents who have expressed interest in participating in the classroom as they plan parties for the fall and winter events. If you wish to volunteer in one of these roles, please complete these portions of our application, listing each child’s grade and homeroom teacher, as well.
Throughout the year, we will send out signups looking for help with book fairs, hayrides, socials, and more. At the end of the year, the school staff will use this same list of persons to contact volunteers for Field Days.
It is important to complete your membership application early to ensure your volunteer eligibility status. Please do so by October 15, 2025.
If you have already completed your application and want to express interest in chaperoning a field trip, please contact the main office at your child’s school. While the Kindergarten trip is taking place very soon, first through fifth grade trips will not take place until the springtime. You will hear more from the office(s) closer to those dates if they are looking for help with your child’s trip.
If you have any questions, please contact us at PTO@westamptonschools.org.
Sincerely,
The Westampton Parent-Teacher Organization
