The big band was all fired up and ready to play on Wednesday night. We had Vibes, piano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, Trombone, Guitar, bass and drums!!
Setup went smoothly and the first three acts played very well. Lucas' rock band, Half-Six, brought the house down with 5 tunes: TNT, Blitzkrieg Bop, Eye of the Tiger (live Debut), Iron Man, and Can't Explain. 8th Grade girls were screaming and video taping the 4 young lads from Burns Park and Bach schools. Sugar Rush counterbalanced the hard rock with classic rock and newer rock songs.
WSP made it through Killer Joe, Moanin', and All Blues before someone told us to stop because, of all things, they needed the FLOORING back.... At least we had a free meal. The road crew was treated to a beer when all the moving was done. Overall the band had two very solid additions - Jeff Fessler on Vibes and the Multi-talented Tom Barber on Guitar. Tom may be moving to bass after the young Jeff moves from Ann Arbor in July. We'll be sad to have him go. Perhaps a last jam is in order.... The band hat many positive compliments and we are excited about what might be next... Perhaps a Tap Room Annex gig of our own....
