Data Privacy Notice
To comply with the new General Data Protection Regulations which come into force on May 25th 2018, the Group has produced the following policy statement.
1. Personal data; personal data relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data.
2. The Committee of the Local History Group holds the following personal data on its members:
Name; address; telephone number, your membership status (i.e. if you have paid for the current year) and for most members also an email address.
The Committee members are the only people who have access to this data.
3. We use this data for the following purposes:
To tell you about group meetings, outings organised by the group and any other local history events that are likely to be of interest to members.
4. What we will not do is pass any of your personal data on to any other organisation, nor use it for any other purpose than the above.
We will not collect or keep any other data about you.
This use constitutes a “legitimate use” under the new regulations and therefore does not need your specific consent. Consent is assumed when you give us the information.
5. If, at any time, the committee decides that more data should be held, then your specific consent will be sought before collecting or using such data.
6. We will keep your data for as long as you remain a paid-up member of the group and for a further two years afterwards in case you wish to revive your membership.
7. At any time you can ask to see the data we hold on you and amend it as required.
8. If you have any complaint about the way we use your data, you have the right to contact the Information Commissioners Office.
