About Me

Dr. Alan Tan received the B.Eng. (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, in 1999 on the Shell scholarship, and the M.EngSc. and Ph.D. degrees from Multimedia University, Selangor, in 2003 and 2008, respectively. Since 1999, he has been attached to the Multimedia University where he has engaged in signal processing research with particular interest in speech and music/audio processing, and more recently in pattern recognition with applications in image/video processing. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed indexed journals, and has vast project and consultancy experience in his research domains.

Dr. Tan is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and the past dean of the same faculty. He is a Senior Member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a Chartered Engineer of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He enjoys playing the piano and solving riddles/puzzles in his leisure hours, and considers his kids his greatest accomplishment.
