The Morris Family came from a rich history in Gloucester County, Virginia.
Gloucester County was formed from York County in 1651, it consisted of four parishes:
Abingdon,
Kingston (Became Mathews
Petsworth,
Ware. (Kingston parish became Mathews County in 1791.)

In the county the white town's people (slave owners) drafted a bill in 1836 to remove all free African American's out of the county, because it caused problems for the slaves living on the plantations.
In 1860 or 1870 the Morris family left Gloucester County.
