- Attendance: Team members are expected to attend every practice and match. If you wish to be excused from a team event, you must consult Coach Seeley at least 10 days in advance. Please note that any absence affects our entire lineup, and will not be treated lightly. Two unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the team.
- Please be aware that student-athletes must be on time to school. A lateness to school of over 1 hour (8:30am) excludes participation from sports for that day. Absences and latenesses will be addressed by the coach if they become a repeated problem.
- Practice Time: Practices will start at 2:30pm each day. This means that all team members should be changed and equipment should be on the courts. Generally, we will stretch and warmup until 2:45, and practice will end between 4:45 and 5:00pm.
- Match Times: Generally speaking, the bus for away matches will leave at 2:30pm. This will give us time to stretch and warmup at the match site. Reporting time for home matches will be 3:00pm.
- All athletes are part of the team and are expected to go to and from matches on the team bus and attend matches in their entirety. Notes to leave early from a match or practice should be reserved for extreme circumstances which cannot be avoided. Any such requests should be submitted to the coach AT LEAST 2 days prior in order to receive approval from the Athletic Director.
- Hazing and/or bullying will not be tolerated. Anything interpreted as being demeaning to others, name calling, an “initiation” ritual, etc. will result in a suspension and/or removal from the team.
- Negative attitudes towards other team members will not be tolerated. Again, continued growth of the team and program requires the athletes work together. Anyone making another teammate or teammates feel unwelcome or uncomfortable will be warned about the behavior. If the behavior continues, it will be grounds for dismissal from the team.
- New Jersey’s tennis rules and regulations specify that players and coaches must exhibit “the utmost sportsmanship” – no audible profanity, no ball abuse, no racket abuse, no other unsportsmanlike acts. Unsportsmanlike behavior during challenge matches and interscholastic matches will be penalized as follows: 1st offense – point penalty, 2nd offense – game penalty, 3rd offense – default. Unsportsmanlike behavior during practice may result in dismissal from practice; a pattern of such behavior may result in dismissal from the tennis program.
