Thought by many to be Shakespeare's finest play, Lear was written in the tumultuous year of 1606. Political turmoil, infighting, treachery and revenge threaten to tear the country asunder and all for one man's foolishness and vanity. Interpretations of Lear have seen it's focus continually shifting and reviewed but it always remains vital and relevant.
