Yonsei University

Studied on optical system design of an optical system for a SIL (Solid Immersion Lens) based near field recording, and vector field wave analysis on an optics with high NA. Mainly performed calculation on electric-field behavior.

Seoul, Korea

M. Eng. Information Storage Engineering, Mar. 2004

(Academic Advisor: Prof. No-Cheol Park)

Sogang University

Studied on optics design using CODE-V which is a geometrical optical design software, and on fabrication of micro optical components for integrated optical pickup, micro lens array, diffractive optical elements.

Seoul, Korea

B. Eng. Mechanical Engineering, Aug. 2001

Work Experience

Hanbat National University (2018.09 ~ Present)

Daejeon, Korea

Assistant Professor @ Dept. of Smart Manufacturing Applied Engineering

Honam University (2017.03 ~ 2018.08)

Mainly research opto-mechanical fabrication and measurement instruments for smart factory environments such as automated inspection solutions and high resolution on-demand fabrication solutions. In addition, I’m also working with Prof. No-cheol Park’s Lab in Yonsei Univ. to develop ultra-high-resolution STED nanoscopy.

Gwangju, Korea

Assistant Professor @ Dept. of Automotive Engineering

S-Printing Solution (2010.11 ~ 2017.02)

Mainly researched optical sensors (including optical system design and optoelectronic sensor unit integration) for Advanced Driving Assistant System (ADAS) such as solid state LIDAR and stereo cameras.

Suwon, Korea

Principal Engineer (2016~ Present) @ Printing Solution Business

Samsung Electronics (2009 ~ Present)

Mainly researched the yield improvement in the manufacturing process by reconstructing the lightguide optical system in the 10.1 "and 7" IR TSP (touch screen panel) and establishing a complete measurement process for the detailed main optical parameters.

Suwon, Korea

Principal Engineer (2016~ Present) @ Printing Solution Business

Worked to solve opto-mechanical issues related to a laser scanning unit (LSU) in a digital printer, such as reduction of systematic Moire in image and difference in optical density. In addition, researched annular pupil apodization and effect on diffracted field by birefringence distribution in the F-theta lens.

Senior Engineer (2009~ 2015) @ Printing Solution Business

Philips (2006)

Internship Program

During 4.5 years, designed optical systems for a laser scanning unit (LSU) of a color copier by using CODE-V, optics design S/W. Key thing was to design a zoom optics considering a polygon mirror and free-form shaped F-theta lenses. During remained 2.5 years, developed a LED print head. Mainly concerned array structure of LEDs and LED driving method. In addition, researched image correction on vertical noise by optical power fluctuation of each LED.

Einthoven, The Netherlands

Constructed interferometric evaluation setup for the optics with a solid immersion lens and focused EM field analysis in a multi-layered medium.

Samsung Adv. Inst. of Technology (SAIT)  (2003)

Kiheung, Korea

Internship Program

Worked on fabrication of diffractive optical element with gray-scale lithography for small form factor optical disk drive information storage device.
