In 2019, I became Director of Teaching, while still continuing to offer my normal teaching workload. Between 2019 and 2022, I designed two new Honours modules, PY4662 Critical Theory and PY4667 Philosophy of Music. In addition, I also re-designed GD5501 and GD5503 for the Gender Studies MLitt Programme in the Graduate School, and PY4606 Contemporary Epistemology for our own programme. Finally, I've re-designed and taught PY5324 Philosophy of Logic in 2019 and contributed to it in later years. In all, my teaching is now structured around two pairs of Hons modules delivered in alternate years (PY4643 and PY4667; PY4649 and PY4662), with other modules contributed on an annual basis (PY3100, PY5324, GD5501). I also regularly contribute to our Sub-Hons modules (e.g. PY1010 and PY2012).
In 2018-2019, I taught PY4650 Philosophy, Feminism, and Gender, and, for the third time, PY3100 Reading Philosophy 1. Texts in Language, Logic, Mind, Epistemology, Metaphysics and Science. I've also taught PY2012 (epistemology and philosophy of language) for the fourth time, and PY1012 (Introduction to Logic) for the second time. I also be designed and delivered another Honours module, PY4643 Philosophy of Law.
In 2017, I designed and taught PY4649, Core Texts in Continental Philosophy, focusing on Heidegger's Being and Time. Other authors discussed in the module included Hegel, Husserl, Adorno, Levinas, Derrida, Badiou, and Malabou. It was the first ever module in modern continental philosophy offered at St Andrews.
In 2015-2018, I organised and co-taught PY2012 Meaning and Knowing three times, with Professors Jessica Brown, Katherine Hawley, and Herman Cappelen, PY1012 Reasoning , PY3701 Meaning and Reality (philosophy of language and metaphysics), and two Evening Degree modules, PY1901 Morality and Human Nature (introduction to moral theories, taught twice), and PY2902 Knowledge, Mind, Reality (epistemology, mind and metaphysics).
In terms of administrative duties, I'm the Library officer for the department and one of the sub-honours advisers in the Faculty of Arts. I also organise the undergraduate and postgraduate reading parties weekends.
