DNR Pier Planner

Many Lake District members have brought up concerns about pier installation and restriction to us. We thought this DNR Planner would be of benefit to you.

Aquatic Plant Management Plan

The Waubeesee Lake district management has engaged Aron and Associates to develop an aquatic lake plan. The goal of the lake district is to provide a stable taxing authority to fund aquatic plant management and other activities to improve Waubeesee Lake. Chemical weed spraying and weed harvesting will only be considered for a lake if a management plan has been created. The WDNR has several grant programs to help fund plans like this. Below you can find the link to the 2018-2022 and 2023-2027 plans.

Boat Launch

Due to the low water in 2012 an issue at the boat launch has occurred. Too many boaters have been power loading their boats (using the motors to thrust boats on the trailer), this is not against the law, but we ask that common sense prevails. This tends to dig holes at the base of the launch. During low water, trailers need to be backed in farther. Sometimes trailers encounter these holes which create issues for getting the boats and trailers out of the water and there by potentially causing damage. We ask that all use caution as not to damage the lake's launch.

In 2015, the concrete pads of the boat ramp shifted which created a large hump when entering or removing a boat trailer from the lake. The board reached out to the WI DNR for assistance and they made arrangements to repair the issues in a very timely manner. We wish to thank them for their swift response.

Goose Round-up (Due to the low number of geese these last few years, this program has been put on hold)

The success of our participating in the Federal goose removal program encouraged us to do this only when the goose population becomes a nuisance. A lot of folks were happy about cleaner yards. Most important, however, is the water quality we are able to maintain by reducing the flocks that visit our lake.

The annual goose roundup will typically take place in June when the birds are without their flight feathers. We need to get the permission forms back from all landowners. If you live on the lakeshore a permission form must be in our hands or the Federal unit will refuse to enter the property to do their job.  There is no way we can tell where the geese will be so we need these permission slips for owners of property that allows gesse to walk up on the yard.

If you notice frequent visits of geese on your property call one of the lake commissioners to prepare us on locations to visit when the Federal team arrives. Permission forms will be sent out in spring, and again, please return them when requested. Thank you.
