Waterview Sharks 2026
WATERVIEW SWIM TEAM RULES
PARTICIPATION: Swimmers of all levels and abilities are welcome to join the Sharks.
In order to qualify for dual meets, a swimmer must be able to complete a length of the pool swimming free-style. Coaches evaluate a swimmer's abilities throughout daily practices. If a swimmer does not qualify for a dual meet, they are expected to attend the meet, cheer for their teammates, and have fun! The goal for all swimmers is to become proficient enough to participate in meets at individual levels and have fun.
PRACTICE: Daily attendance is expected. If you will be absent more than 3 consecutive days, please let the coaches know.
Be on time.
Listen when coaches are talking.
No horseplay in between sets. (You may be asked to leave practice).
Go to the bathroom before or after practice.
DO YOUR BEST. Learning how to swim each stroke correctly is the goal.
MEETS: All swimmers participate in dual meets, the relay carnival, and one of the championship meets. Only 12 and overs participate in the Senior Distance Meet (new 2018) Attendance at meets is crucial to the team doing well.
"Sign out" 3 days in advance. Meet line-ups take several hours to create. When one swimmer is absent at the last minute, it affects the entire team. If you will miss a meet please sign out in the green spiral notebook located with the communication crate. Also tell the coaches which meet you will be missing.
Stay with the team. Why? To support your teammates with loud, excited cheering while they swim; To find you when it is your time to swim; To keep you safe
Inform the coaches if you will be leaving a meet early. If a swimmer has to scratch, coaches may try to fill the spot with another swimmer. Coaches must know all swimmers are present and available to swim.
All swimmers must compete in 3 regular season meets (dual, Relay Carnival, or Senior Distance) to be eligible to swim in a championship meet.
Horsing around during meets will not be tolerated. Behavior considered inappropriate, dangerous, or disrespectful may result in being removed from the rest of a meet or missing the next meet.
NOTE TO PARENTS: Your most important job is to have your swimmers ready for practices/meets and to be supportive of your athletes. If you have questions or concerns, please address them to a board member (rather than coaches) via email or phone. The coaching staff's focus, at practice & meets, must be swimmers and their success.
Thank you for understanding and following the above rules. Feel free to contact any of the board members if you have any questions or concerns regarding these expectations.
The Southern Chester County Swim League has a NO ALCOHOL policy for all Dual, League, and Championship meets. This policy is enforced at all SCCSL events. Please help provide a fun and safe environment for our children.
