Water Preserves, an installation created by Ithaca, NY artist Jan Kather, explores our complex and sometimes precarious relationship with water by visually and aurally examining its beauty, magic, terror, and poetry. The installation configuration changed as it moved from the State of the Art Gallery (February, 2009) to the DMA Alfred State College, Alfred, New York (March 6 - April 3) to the George Waters Gallery at Elmira College, Elmira, NY (November, 2009) as part of the Annual Art Faculty Show.
Jan invited ten international video artists to collaborate with her by contributing to the video posted here. This compilation video was screened at both SOAG and Alfred State College's DMA Gallery. Participating artists and images from the videos are listed at right. Moment eMagzine editor Alicia Felberbaum kindly assembled a catalog of artist statements for the show.
