Disclaimer
---------------
I have made free use of 'copy and paste' technique , from so many pages in wiki. and maps.
No claim to originality is made!
The uniqueness however is in the way, the material is presented by a hobbyist that I am to other hobbyists like myself.
This is not a doctoral thesis or anything. I would not mar the pages by ugly scars of innumerable links for reference. in the main body of the narration itself!
. Consider this as a simple notes and use it.
Look for useful links from wiki and other sources for information. in the 'info-links' page in this site.
This is not a blog.

Arthur Quiller Couch has written a book with the same aim, but not good.

we can also get the pdf or simple text-
from archives.

I have given the relevant chapters in simple text format as subpages in quiller-text

( My dissatisfaction with this book by Sir Arthur Quiller Couch - He has unnecessarily brought in Julius Caeser and Corialanus - figures from Roman history and allotted the first 70 pages and has given only 34 pages to King Richard-II , a play brimming with free verse of utmost literary merit. One of the Best by the Bard. And has not given sufficient pages to the Wars of Roses Tetrology.
For some reason, he has left out Henry VIII ( though, many scholars consider that as a work the Bard shared with Fletcher ).
My aim is to write in as simple a language as possible , giving profuse quotations from Shakespeare himself, and highlighting the lines which I found thrilling, This site is meant for Indian students ( especially from Tamilnadu) who may not know much about the geography, history and religious and social structure of England, France , Scotland and Ireland after the Norman Conquest of England around 1060 AD till, the ascension of Queen Elizabeth to the English Throne in Shakespeare's time.
King Henry VIII was Queen Elizabeth's father.
Elizabeth was the daughter of King Henry VIII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn. She was only 2 years old when her mother was beheaded on the orders of her father, based on questionable charges of adultery and conspiracy.
------------------------------------
Elizabeth I 1533 – 1603) was Queen of England and Ireland from 1558 until her death in 1603. Sometimes called the Virgin Queen, Gloriana or Good Queen Bess, Elizabeth was the last of the five monarchs of the House of Tudor
-----------------------------------------------
Queen Elizabeth passed away in 1603 and King James of Scotland ( catholic)
by normal rules of succession, became the king of England as well.
Shakespeare passed away only in 1616. So, he lived for 13 years after Queen Elizabeth.
--------------------------------------------------
Though all the ten plays are sparkling, the TETROLOGY of Plays
dealing with the WAR OF THE ROSES is ( Henry VI ( three parts)
and Richard III)
abounding in passages of passion and breath-taking dialogs. which I feel that Quiller Couch has not done full justice.
With the facilities now available in the web and free hosting of sites by GOOGLE, it is now possible to give a version supplemented by historical background, geographical maps and images, to rouse the interest of the Internet Generation.
If an inquisitive learner of English literature lands on this site during his search by the keywards like
SAXONS and NORMANS'
'HUNDRED YEARS WAR',
'WARS OF THE ROSES', or
'HENRY-VI,
'RICHARD II
RICHARD III,
JOAN OF ARC,
KING JOHN,
HENRY V,
HENRY VI,
MARGARET,
CADE,
in the first page of the search result, I will be happy that my effort has not been vain.
