Artist Statement

Marrying her landscape and architectural backgrounds, WanWan's most recent oeuvre is a series of semi-abstract paintings on plant forms.

Cleverly displacing form and backgrounds, WanWan's sensitive use of colour lends voice to what our eyes might normally pass over. The prominent form is subjugated, delicately and for a change, to the richness that is her background.

Singapore's texture setting as a Garden City serves to inspire WanWan to share her love and knowledge of the multitude of flora varieties here. Her paintings quietly educate with abstract measure and realistic life forms.
