Wallace Casaca

He received his Bachelor's degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics and Master of Mathematics degree from São Paulo State University (UNESP) in 2008 and 2010. During 2010-2014, he pursued his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at University of São Paulo (USP)Brazil (advisiors: Luis Gustavo Nonato and Gabriel Taubin). As part of his doctoral studies, he worked as visiting researcher at MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brown University. From 2015 to 2016, he conducted researches as a postdoctoral scholar on several Computer Science topics at the Visual and Geometry Processing Group (USP/ICMC, Brazil). His Ph.D. Work has been awarded and recognized by several scientific organizations such as CLEI (Latin American Informatics and Computer Science Society), SBC (Brazilian Computer Society), SBMAC (Brazilian Society of Computational and Applied Mathematics), CAPES (Federal Agency for Support Graduate Education), among others. He participated in about 60 scientific conferences and he has served as reviewer and technical member of various international conferences and high-profile journals such as IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TIP and Computers & Mathematics with ApplicationsHe was also invited to join interdisciplinary scientific committees as the Annual Academic Reputation Survey (ranking which classifies the reputation of universities/research institutions around the world, organized by Thomson Reuters), Brazilian Applied Mathematics committee, IEEE Societies, etc. He is presently working as a professor of Computer Science at São Paulo State University (UNESP). His research interests include data clustering, image segmentation, image restoration, computer vision applications, computational intelligence, optimization, information visualization, pattern recognition, partial differential equations and numerial methods.
