Broadcasting and Filmmaking
Throughout the Semester, we will explore a variety of genres, such as talk shows, documentaries, instructional and informative movies, television shows, commercials, and action movies. Students will work in small groups using specific guidelines to plan and produce movies. Progress will be monitored daily so that groups will successfully reach due dates on time. All work will be done in class; therefore, it is imperative that time is used efficiently.

Restaurant reviews/commercials
Commercials (school rules, safety procedures, ethical choices, special activities…)
Short films
Videos of student council candidate speeches
Biographical videos
Seasonal sports montages
Slick Rock Film Festival (competition)
Each project will include lessons and practice in the following videography skills:
script-writing
story-boarding
acting
directing
operating cameras
editing
critiquing
AFTER SCHOOL REQUIREMENT
Sign up to film and edit 1 after school activity (Sports, Dance, Play, etc..)
Festivals that we will submit films to.
2 week Film Festival
Must be between 1-4 minutes
No copyrighted material
Location Requirement: The entire short film must take place in one room.
Story Requirement: The story must have at least one character keeping a secret from another character.
Lighting Requirement: Only one light source may be used. For example: a candle, a single lightbulb, a television screen, car headlights, etc.
