Aloha!
My name is Jamie Labasan, and I am a senior at Waiakea High School. I have the honor and privilege of serving as the President of the Waiakea Key Club for two consecutive years. Our members dedicate numerous hours throughout the year to support our community. We form new connections with children, adults, and teens who are equally inspired to make our community a better place. I take pride in being part of a club where the members are as dedicated as I am to making a difference through various service projects.
Waiakea Key Club was chartered on March 13, 1978, on the Big Island, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of East Hawaii. We are a part of Division 22 Makai, makai referring to the ocean, along with 9 other clubs from Big Island, Maui, and Kauai combined. Our division mascot is the Opihi, otherwise known as the limpet.
Additionally, the state of Hawaii makes up Region 18, including our division, Division 22 Hikina (East Oahu, the Mano), and Division 22 Komohana (West Oahu, the Honu). This region is a part of the California-Nevada-Hawaii (CNH) Division, whose mascot is the bee. Consisting of a total of 17 regions, 83 divisions, and over 700 clubs, CNH is the largest district in Key Club International!
