About the Club

Purpose

The San Mateo Radio Club serves the Amateur Radio community in San Mateo and the surrounding communities on the San Francisco peninsula since 1946. The club provides a focus for its members to share common interests in the many varied aspects of a great hobby. Support emergency preparedness, helps newcomers to get on the air, and encourages growth in more experienced operators. The club promotes the exchange of knowledge and skills among members. The club’s goal is to improve its member’s technical and operating capabilities and to foster fellowship. Join us each summer for our big event of the year - ARRL Field Day - we operate 24 hours talking to numerous amateur radio operators across the states and beyond at Beresford Park in San Mateo on the 4th full weekend in June each year.

Meetings

The San Mateo Radio Club meets on the third Friday of the month at 7:15 pm on Zoom and in person at the Congregational Church of San Mateo. Each meeting has a presentation on a topic of interest in amateur radio.  There are plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get help with problems.  [During the COVID19 pandemic, we have been meeting online on Zoom and  in person.  See the club calendar for events and instructions.]
