Due:
3D Printed Tool / Open Source Object
Wed, March 22
Wed, April 12
Assignment Description:
We will work in groups (from the previous assignment) to brainstorm, design and create a simple tool that combines a 3D printed component(s) with an existing, off the shelf component(s). Between now and the last day of class, you'll document (through two blog posts) concept generation, design, and production of your 3D printed tool / open source object!
Assignment Requirements:
1.) Tool / object should include 3d printed component(s) as well as existing, off the shelf component(s). This is the only design constraint for this project!
2.) You will want to digitize the existing components (by creating a basic of them) in order to model your 3d printed components around them (as demonstrated in class!)
3.) The general guidelines for this assignment are open to creative interpretation, but the timeline for this project is relatively short, so you'll want to plan accordingly!
4.) 3D Print your design, and assemble it!
5.) Document your progress, through at least two blog posts, for this project!
6.) EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY: Publish your object, along with photos and a description, to Thingiverse.com.
Complete this assignment by the beginning of the final day of class on Wednesday, April 5th.
