REMEMBER

Each year we all remember

On a very special day

Poppies are worn, wreaths are laid

Any many tears are wiped away

Their country called upon them

Many just eighteen year old lads

They never wavered for one moment

But their Loved Ones were scared and sad

Proudly they became Soldiers

No thought of the hell to come

They said goodbye to loved ones

For there was a battle to be won

They never could have fathomed

The horrors they would see

The death, the pain, the sadness

And insurmountable bravery

No one could have imagined

The lives that it would cost

But after six long years of battle

Loving Fathers, Sons, and husbands would be lost

I too lay in this could ground

My name engraved on stone

I'm surrounded by fellow comrades

We won't be coming home

So listen carefully Comrades

For we speak from what we know

The price of War is costly

It's just not the way to go

We lay here without choices

The deed already done

Our families grieve forever

For their forgotten Sons

My friends and fellow comrades

Who look down from heavens sky above

Are praying for you to remember

That "World Peace" is achieved with love

We gave our lives for FREEDOM

And we have not one regret

For Democracy is a blessing

We beg that you not forget

So as you look upon your poppy

On this Remembrance Day

Take a moment to say "Thank you"

To the valiant Vet who passes your way

With my love & gratitude for your service

sincerely, Katie Henderson
