Your thesis is the opportunity to do something really yours, to show who you really are, so my personal suggestion is
DO SOMETHING YOU REALLY LIKE ... all other aspects, such as "it is a trendy topic", "it will help me to find a job", ... are in my opinion marginal.
I would be more than happy to help you in doing what you really like, if I can. So please feel free to make your proposal and let's see whether I can help, namely a) I know something about the topic, b) I know very little, but I wish to know more.
In this perspective, the following are few thesis proposals:
Federated Machine Learning (FML) is a machine learning technique that trains an algorithm across multiple decentralized edge devices or servers holding local data samples, without exchanging them. This approach stands in contrast to traditional centralized machine learning techniques where all the local datasets are uploaded to one server, as well as to more classical decentralized approaches which often assume that local data samples are identically distributed.
Federated learning enables multiple actors to build a common, robust machine learning model without sharing data, thus allowing to address critical issues such as data privacy, data security, data access rights and access to heterogeneous data. Its applications are spread over a number of industries including defense, telecommunications, IoT, and pharmaceutics
However, FML does not allow alone to guarantee the users' privacy. Observing the parameters provided to build the global model can disclose private information on the local data set.
The main goal of the thesis is to investigate the techniques employed to guarantee the privacy of the users and to develop a prototype for a specific use case.

Self-sovereign identity (SSI) is an approach to digital identity that gives individuals control of their digital identities.
The main goal of the thesis is to investigate the current solutions for the SSI and to develop a prototype for a specific use case.
