Restaurants with Atmosphere
Hacienda San Angel Gourmet...Miramar 336… take a cab so you can find it… If you are going to go to just one special restaurant, go here (or Cafe Des Artistes). The building is a Boutique Hotel that merges four homes into one, it is stunning. It was previously owned by actor Richard Burton. At this rooftop restaurant, you will see panoramic views of the city and wonderful 11 member mariachi band will get people up dancing in the middle of their meal. The menu changes but it is consistently good. The door may be hard to find but it often has a boy outside that will guide you. Once you enter you will know that you will be having a lovely evening. This is a very special place. (Open for Sunday brunch as well) $20-50
Cafe des Artistes on Guadalupe Sanchez 740. Another outstanding atmosphere for a restaurant, it is in a castle like building with many different rooms. The angel room and the garden room are spectacular. Cafe Des Artistes is more pricey than most but is a very special spot. It is French cuisine with a Mexican touch. The chef has won more than 20 awards on both national and international levels. The food presentation is flawless. Reservations are a must. Price range $25-60 Tel: 2-23-29 or 30 Sunday-Saturday 6-11:30pm
The Blue Shrimp - located across from Daiquiri Dick’s restaurant on the beach at Olas Altas. Shrimply the best! Good for lunch or dinner. $20-30 They often have live music and great ambiance at night. Sun-Sat. 9am-1130pm
Vista Grill…Pulpito 377 Fabulous food and amazing view of Puerto Vallarta. Take a cab here, it’s up the mountain a bit. American and Modern Mexican cuisine. $16- 33 a person. Travelers Choice award. Sunday-Saturday 5:30-11:30 pm
Senor Chico’s 377 Pupito... If you don’t mind traveling a bit to see a lovely view of the city, check Senor Chicos out. Flaming Shrimp, lobster and other seafoods are among the specialties here. The taxi ride is very interesting… it is straight up the mountainside so hold on. Reservations are required in high season, be sure to ask for a table with a view. Tel: 2-35-70
The River Cafe - Beautiful atmosphere and restaurant. If you are looking for a romantic evening or a fancy dinner, this is a great spot. The food is very good and the daiquiris here are tasty. The restaurant is located under the bridge at Isle Rio Cuale. $15-30 Tel: 03-07-88
La Palapa...103 Pulpito and Playa de Los M puertos (the beach). This restaurant is beautiful at night. You can choose to eat on the beach with candles or in the restaurant. There is live music at night. Order the Flaming Coffee for a great Mexican specialty. Price Range $20-38 per person Sunday-Saturday 8:30am-11:30pm
Casa Isabel-Privada Del Bosque #483-You need to take a cab for this one. Great view, go right before sunset. Prices are very reasonable for this location. Be sure to ask for a tour of the home.
Le Bistro Jazz Café Delicious shrimp crepes and other amazing fish entrees. Sophisticated dining with an upscale decor. Jazz music accompanies exotic dishes with wonderful desserts and specialty coffee. The coconut shrimp is great! Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Le Kliff- This place is awesome! Located a couple miles out of town but worth the trip. Very romantic! A wonderful place for a wedding with the ocean as your backdrop. A little expensive but the food is very good. Reservations are suggested and you will need to take a cab there. They will be helpful in helping you get a cab home.
El Panorama - Located in Hotel La Siesta on Ortiz de Dominquez Y
Miramar The restaurant boasts the best view of the bay. Be sure to go before the sunset. Wonderful shrimp and steak dishes. Reservations are a good idea. Take a taxi unless you miss the stairmaster at your health club. Tel 2-18-18

Salud...Olas Altas #534… this is our favorite for breakfast and lunch! They offer delicious and healthy cuisine focused on “superfoods” ingredients. The Pachamama burger and Chicken Curry Wrap are amazing. Check and see what fresh juices they have too!

Freddy’s Toucan...Basillo Badillo 245 and Emiliano Zapata..this place has a great breakfast with hearty portions. The lines can be long during the busy season, if so, head down two blocks on Basillo Badillo to Memo’s Pancake House.
Memo’s Pancake House...Basillo Badillo #289...if you are looking for breakfast and want amazing waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, fresh fruit blintz, pancakes or eggs, check out Memo’s. They are open from 8am to 2pm. Tel: 2-62-72
Cafe de Olla...168 Basillo Badillo..located right across from the school on the square by Daiquiri Dick’s. Great authentic Mexican food paired with twice baked potatoes. Try the tortilla soup. They do not take reservations so arrive early because there could be a wait, but it is worth it.

Fajita Republic…188 Basillo Badillo... Lindsay’s favorite mexican restaurant. Check out the el Presidente Fajitas and the tortilla soup. The guacamole is amazing as well. Highly recommended!

Andales is the neighborhood bar. It is located on Olas Altas across from the Los Arcos Hotel. They have huge coconut shrimp that is really good! You may see a donkey outside at night. They play music from the 60’s and 70’s and it attracts an American crowd.
Archie’s Wok - 130 Francisca Rodrigues at Olas Altas. Customers can choose from a variety of Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Philippine dishes. Fresh local fish, vegetable and meats are prepared with coconut and curry sauces. Archie was the chef to film director John Houston. NEar the pier on Los Muertos Beach.
La Dolce Vita…674 Paseo Diaz Ordaz Tel:2-38-52. Owned by Italians, they boast the best pasta and pizza in Vallarta. Featuring northern Italian cuisine and pizzas cooked to order with fresh and imported ingredients. The Bruschetta is the best! Located on the Malecon.

Adobe Grill.. Doug and Lindsay had New Years dinner here and it was great! It looks like an authentic Mexican restaurant and many of the locals eat there. Cash only. Closed on Tuesdays….and warning, it’s hot in the restaurant… try to sit toward the sidewalk to get some air!
La Pizzata...located towards the end of Olas Altas. Great italian food and pizza. Cheap and easy
Adventures and Activities
Check out this website for any Vallarta Adventures. Swim with the dolphins, go fishing, check out the bullfights, go ziplining through the jungle or visit many of Vallarta's beach towns.
Look for the vendor selling tours with the red hat....his name is Jose Luis and he is a long time friend of the families. He has consistently provided us and our guests with great tours and trips throughout Vallarta. If you sit on the beach for a day or two, you will eventually see him. He is a very nice gentleman.
