These activities can be used in several different formats. The educator may:
1. Lead the class as a group exploring one of the internships.
2. Assign the activities for out of class work.
3. Have students work in groups on chosen internships
4. Have the students work independently on a chosen internship while the WBL Coordinator is seeking an interrnship in the business community.
The Virtual Internships activities are designed to inform the students about the:
Task responsibilities of this job title
Connection to one's "Career DNA" to the job title
Steps the student may take while in high school
Further education and training one may choose to move forward in this career path
Professional associations which can open doors to the career path
Local companies who may offer the student a real internship.
Typical skills/work tasks required
Knowledge needed for career success
Upon completion of the Virtual Internship, the student will be aware of the career path and more valuable to an employer because of the completion of these activities.
Virtual Internships will give students a look into the knowledge and skills they would need if they were to choose a career pathway.
WBL Coordinators, teachers and counselors can use these activities to help their students begin to explore a variety of pathways.
