These bags are all made from traditional Harris Tweed wool fabric in a teal green and turquoise herringbone weave. They are handmade to order by me at my studio in Scotland, and bear a label with the Harris Tweed Authority certified trademark.
The Harris Tweed Authority was established in 1993 with an Act of Parliament, and replaced the original Harris Tweed Association which was set up in 1909. The definition of Harris Tweed contained in the 1993 Act defines Harris Tweed as:
"Handwoven by the islanders at their homes in the Outer Hebrides, finished in the Outer Hebrides, and made from pure virgin wool dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides."
The Authority oversees the production and inspection of the cloth from start to finish, and brands it with the mark of the Orb which can be seen on the traditional label affixed to finished items, guaranteeing the quality of the tweed fabric.
Prices from £45.00. Click on any of the images below to take you to my Etsy shop, where you can buy the bags.
