Special districts are a form of local governance that allows a community to tax itself to plan, manage, and repair local access roads. Vineyard Mountain is one of Benton County's 13 road districts managed by constituents, including a volunteer board.
Please join us at a board meeting! Board meetings are held virtually on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Upcoming meetings are available on the calendar -->
Email us to be added to the email list and get meeting links before each board meeting. You could also sync the meetings to your calendar using the public calendar link. We also put scheduled maintenance and alerts on this calendar when appropriate.
The Vineyard Mountain Special Road District needs volunteers for 2025 and 2026 (and beyond). It takes a lot of work to keep the roads on our beautiful mountain clear, safe, and well-maintained. The three people currently on the board (current president, secretary, and financial officer) need some neighbors to share the load.
Here's what the board gets done each year:
Culvert and ditch clearing
Tree removal and trimming
Road striping
Asphalt sealing and resealing
Sign maintenance
Resurfacing
Shoulder gravel / rock
Accept and record resident concerns
Budgeting & Accounting
Board meetings
Contracting and invoicing
Record keeping
Snow plowing
Culvert clearing
Tree removal
Slide / collapse clearing and recovery
Snow plowing

For all of the scheduled maintenance, someone has to:
Budget and plan the work by season
Get contractor quotes
Choose a contractor and schedule work
Drive the roads to show them where to work
Mark and number culverts, trees, etc
Check contractor work is complete
Pay contractors
Record the invoice and payment in the financial statements
Please email vineyardmtnroads@gmail.com or attend the next board meeting!
