The Cheesecake Factory Vietnamese Tacos.
Makes 8 Tacos
Prep Time 1 Hour
1 LB pork shoulder
2 tablespoons of minced garlic
1 tablespoon of chopped ginger
1/8 cup of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of fish sauce
1/2 tablespoon of light soy sauce
1/3 cup of warn water
1 teaspoon of sweet soy sauce
You will need to marinate your pork for 1 hour before cooking.
In large pan heat 1 tablespoon olive oil, add SLICED pork and cook until caramelized. Then reduce heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes until tender.
SLOW COOKER METHOD: ( CUT PORK SHOULDER INTO 3 CHUNK PIECES AND WITH YOUR MARINADE SAUCE PLACE INTO YOUR CROCK POT OR SLOW COOKER. COOK FOR 3 TO 5 HOURS).
Garnish for your taco.
1/2 cup of warn water
1/2 cup of seasoned rice vinegar
2 tablespoons of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
2 cups of seeded cucumber(sliced)
2 cups of carrot
1/2 cup of seeded red and orange bell peppers (sliced)
Marinate for 1 hour
Cilantro and 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds
To make the steamed bun to hold the filling you will need (2 large cans 8 count of buttermilk biscuit dough-steam for 5 minutes).
Spread the hoisin sauce on the steamed buns, add meat and top with marinated carrots, cucumber,peppers, and (cilantro and onions not part of marinade)
Vietnamese tacos are a nice combination of traditional vietnamese sauces such as; fish sauce and hoisin sauce. The taco filling consist of tender pork shoulder, marinated for 1 hour, along with marinated cucumber, carrots, peppers, cilantro, and sesame seeds. You can also add marinated or sautéed onions.
Your marinade for the garnish is a key part of the taco.
Seasoned rice vinegar, sugar, kosher salt or sea salt are needed to make a nice tangy maenad.
Washing your pork with sea salt removes bacteria and cleans the meat.
In the video we used mini bell peppers.
Using a garlic press will help with mincing your garlic.
Sliced and marinated carrots and cucumber add flavor and crunch to your taco.
The combination of garlic, ginger, soy sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar make this marinade one of the best.

Canned biscuit dough is quick and great for making Steamed Bao.
Adding thick sweet soy sauce to your cooked pork shoulder boost the flavor of the meat and enhances the overall flavor of the taco. Also gives your pork a rich deep color. If you wish you can also use a slow cooker or crock pot.
Remember that your dough will rise and puff up when steamed.
Your tacos should look like this. With the carrots and cilantro visible. You can see the hoisin sauce spread on the inside of the bun.
