2) New magnetic nanomaterials for spintronics.
3) New nanomaterials doped with rare earth.
4) New functional glasses by sol-gel processes.
5) New amorphous nanomaterials doped with rare earth.
6) Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for rapid bacteria capture, magnetic separation and electrochemical detection.
7) Metal and semiconductor nanostructures for Surface-enhanced Raman scattering and surface plasmon resonance applications.
8) Electron microscopy and microanalysis.
9) Modelling and simulation of solid state structures, materials and devices: Emphasis is on the properties of inorganic solids at all length scales down to nanostructures.
