Overview (2017):
- Our intention is for a maximum of 12 "angels" to arrive at Vidette Meadow in time to provide dinner to hikers on Friday 6/23 - and continue providing magic to hikers until after breakfast on Sunday 6/25. Angels are likely to take different times to get up and down the hill based on temperament and athletic ability.
- All angels will start at Roads End Ranger Station and follow Bubbs Creek up the hill to Upper Vidette Meadow. See Map. Sub-groups would converge on Vidette Meadows on Friday afternoon. We stay at Vidette till late Sunday morning (Serving Hikers the whole time) when we would hike back down the way we came and drive home.
- This year, we could not to afford the mules, and so all supplies will be carried up the hill by Hikers
Here is my summary of who has confirmed their involvement in the hike. There may be more people in the google group than are listed here. Visit the google group for email addresses (login required). There are likely to be Three groups going up the hill this year:
- One day up, One day back: start hiking 7am Friday morning 6/23, arrive Vidette Friday evening (14 miles out and 5000 ft up, with a pack!). Return down the hill on Sunday and drive home. Only for those in shape for a very strenuous hike. First timer's are recommended to take the "two day up" option.
- Seamus S (Permit holder, room for 6 hikers)
- Deniz C
- Friend of Deniz C
- One Day up, One day back: Start hiking 11am Friday morning 6/23, Arrive Vidette Friday evening after dark. This is a very athletic hike. Andrew is likely doing this on his own.
- Andrew G (Permit holder, room for 2 hikers)
- Two days up, One or Two days back: Start hiking 7am Thursday morning 6/22 arriving Vidette Friday evening (14 miles out and 5000 ft up split over two days). Return down the hill on Sunday and drive home. This is a very doable hike, recommended for first-timers and anyone that is not already in exceptional shape. I am going to tack one extra day on this permit for anyone that wants to dawdle a bit going down the hill
