At Victorian City Art & Frame, we're passionate about celebrating creativity, craftsmanship and the beauty of handmade art. Out team brings together a shared appreciation for unique, thoughtfully made pieces and the stories behind them.
We are an independently owned shop located in the downtown historic city of Franklin, PA. We specialize in custom framing and proudly showcase works by regional artists. Our gallery is just a few blocks from French Creek and the Allegheny River, where you can pick up the Justus Trail, a section of the trail connecting Erie to Pittsburgh.
After moving to Franklin from Colorado and discovering the art of picture framing herself, Kyla Parkinson purchased Victorian City Art & Frame in 2011. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside with a degree in Business Administration and came to custom framing through her family roots in Southern California. Kyla's grandmother was a successful artist, and her family manufactured and wholesaled framing products. Today, VCAF continues to work with many commercial accounts while providing the personalized attention and custom experience our individual customers have come to expect.
Kyla grew the business each year and brought Amy Ivell on board in the summer of 2015. Amy had previously worked in the framing industry for many years and has been a member of the Franklin Fine Arts Council for over 20 years. She studied Fine Art and Graphic Design at IUP and has won numerous awards at local art competitions. Amy's work is on permanent display at The Hoyt. She currently specializes in original drawings, with a focus on pet portraits.
Rachel joined the team in 2023 and has become an integral part of our shop. She brings her own creative perspective and passion for handmade art to the VCAF team. Rachel is also the owner of Querida Designs, a small business specializing in hand-carved block printing on canvas products. Her work reflects a love of traditional craftsmanship and unique, thoughtfully made designs—values that fit beautifully with the artistic spirit of Victorian City Art & Frame.
Kyla, Amy, and Rachel are committed to continually learning and growing as artists and framing professionals. They travel to Framing Expos every year to keep up with current trends and attend classes at the National Conference. The team has also been involved with the local chapter of the PPFA (Professional Picture Framers Association) and attends presentations around Pittsburgh on art history and conservation. In 2016, Kyla completed her training and became a Certified Picture Framer.
